Book Haul/In My Mailbox/Christmas Books

I hope everyone has had a fantastic Christmas, or whatever holiday’s you celebrate. I had a lovely time and was spoilt rotten, and spoilt other family members rotten.

I have not posted recently about my book acquisitions, however, that doesn’t mean there hasn’t been any! Many British bloggers talk about The Works – a discount book store, and one I frequent often! Many of my purchases since my last IMM post are from The Works and from their 3 books for £5 deal! Which is a fantastic offer!

Circle of Shadows (Crowther and Westerman #4) By Imogen Robertson

Island of Bones (Crowther and Westerman #3) By Imogen Robertson

Unfortunately when picking up these two Imogen Robertson novels I did not realise they were books in a series, however, I do plan to pick up the first two novels in the series at some point in the coming year.

The Madness Underneath By Maureen Johnson

Since The Madness Underneath is the second book in The Shades of London Series my mum bought me the first book for my Christmas.

For review from Netgalley:

After watching the first season on E4 I decided that I should read the book! Hope it is good!

From the other half 🙂

I am so excited to get stuck into Wither, having seen a lot of posts about the trilogy recently. Just sounds really interesting! Need to read a few review books I’ve neglected recently but am itching to read it!

After my rather big haul last week I have just one book to show you all.

Mila 2.0 is the first book in an electrifying sci-fi thriller series about a teenage girl who discovers that she is an experiment in artificial intelligence.

Mila was never meant to learn the truth about her identity. She was a girl living with her mother in a small Minnesota town. She was supposed to forget her past —that she was built in a secret computer science lab and programmed to do things real people would never do.

Now she has no choice but to run—from the dangerous operatives who want her terminated because she knows too much and from a mysterious group that wants to capture her alive and unlock her advanced technology. However, what Mila’s becoming is beyond anyone’s imagination, including her own, and it just might save her life.

Mila 2.0 is Debra Driza’s bold debut and the first book in a Bourne Identity–style trilogy that combines heart-pounding action with a riveting exploration of what it really means to be human. Fans of I Am Number Four will love Mila for who she is and what she longs to be—and a cliffhanger ending will leave them breathlessly awaiting the sequel. (From Goodreads, 11th February 2013)

What did you get this week?

In My Mailbox 007

In My Mailbox is a weekly Meme hosted by The Story Siren allowing bloggers to share what books they have got there hands on that week!

I haven’t really bought any books since Christmas but decided to raid The Works and get some bargains to keep me going – even though I do have a lot of books to get round to reading! Woops! The Works is a good shop to get book bargains for those in the UK. My total cost was £21.96 but if they had all been at R.R.P it would have cost £73.90 so think I did rather well!

Click on the images and they will take you to the Goodreads page.

Books one to four in The Mortal Instruments Series By Cassandra Clare. Each just £2.99 each! I have heard so many good things about this series so I grabbed them as soon as I saw them! Looking forward to getting stuck into these!

The Iron Knight (The Iron Fey #4) By Julie Kagawa. I got the first three books in the Iron Fey Series at the beginning of the year and have read the Iron King and really enjoyed it. So when I saw this I knew I had to pick it up.

Extras (Uglies#4) By Scott Westerfeld. If you saw my ‘Dust of that Shelf’ post I wanted to get this series read eventually, so picked up this when I saw it!

The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden #1) By Julie Kagawa. I have heard a lot about this book so thought it was worth a try!

Silence (Hush, Hush #3) By Becca Fitzpatrick. Another series that I have heard a lot about, I still need to get Crescendo (Hush, Hush#2) but when you see a bargain you grab it!

If I Stay By Gayle Forman. I have wanted to read this for ages! So glad I saw it!

Possessed By Niki Valentine. Looked very interesting and it said if you liked Black Swan then you’d love this. Really liked Black Swan so it is work a try.

That is all I got! The last six books were on a three for £5 offer. Think I got myself quite a few bargains!

In My Mailbox 006

In My Mailbox is a Meme hosted by The Story Siren in which we share the books that we have received that week. However since my internet has been down I am going to give a rather large post with all the books I have received since my last In My Mailbox Post.

I picked up these three for £5 from The Works on there 3 for £5 deal.

I am a member of ReaditSwapit and this is where this came from.

This was a Christmas gift from my mother which was much appreciated! I have already read the first two so once the third is read I will put up a combined review.

A nice wee 20p bargain from Amazon!

Another 20p bargain from Amazon!

And another 20p bargain from Amazon!

An Amazon freebie at time of purchase!

The Above three books were another bargain from The Works on their 3 for £5 deal.

A Christmas present from my brother so I can annoy people with certain facts 🙂

And that is it for my bumper In My Mailbox! Please comment on what you think of the books – both good and bad.

Blethering Books.

I haven’t got much this week as I am on a bit of a reading slump as I posted earlier this week. So I am not requesting anything from Netgalley until I am reading a bit more regularly!

I did however get some free Kindle books again this week:

Composition by Andy Elliott
Max is not your average little boy. The short life he has known has been one of pain, suffering, control & restraint. However Max has a bigger problem of late: he has started to see visions of the Devil. A short novel in four parts, Composition introduces Max alongside 3 other characters in crisis. Dark, funny, gruesome & redemptive, this surprising debut punches well above its weight.

Seasons of Wither By A. Zampino

Everyone remembers their first love
and their first heartbreak.

But what if you could never

What if you were frozen,
forever seventeen?

Both Blubs from Amazon!

What have you got his week?
